About Navnaam
A quiet, accurate place to choose a name, then hand the shortlist to the family.
Most baby-name sites in India are long copied lists. Navnaam is built the other way: a name database we write ourselves, Moon maths that runs in your browser, and a family vote that does not need an account.
The Moon's position uses the Lahiri ayanamsa, the standard in most Indian panchangs. Results are tradition and belief. They are not a forecast of a child's life, health or future.
Place and time zone
India is one time zone, so the birth form does not ask for a city when India is selected. A city search appears only for countries with several zones. That search sends the country and the letters you type, not the date or time of birth. The Moon maths still runs on this phone. City names are trimmed from the GeoNames cities15000 dataset (CC BY 4.0). We do not call a paid maps service.
Meanings
Each meaning is written for Navnaam, then read again before the name is listed in search. Birth details stay on your phone. They are not saved here.
